Redskins Safety May be Lost for Season

WASHINGTON (Reuter) - The Washington Redskins may be without safety Darryl Morrison, who re-injured his sprained neck Sunday, for their playoff push and perhaps the postseason.

Morrison sprained his neck a few weeks ago and injured it again Sunday in a 19-16 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Wednesday's Washington Post, quoting Redskins trainer Bubba Tyer, said the injury was a cervical disc problem.

Morrison is officially listed as questionable for the Thanksgiving Day affair in Dallas against the Cowboys and a source told the paper that he is done for the season. "I don't know, but they told me to rest," Morrison told the paper when asked is he was done for the year.

Morrison has started every game for the 8-4 Redskins this season and has one interception and three fumble recoveries. His backup is Darryl Pounds.

Morrison was first the hero and then the goat of Washington's 37-34 overtime loss November 10th to the Arizona Cardinals. He recovered a fumble that led to an apparent game-winning 38-yard field goal by Scott Blanton, but was called for holding and Blanton missed the subsequent kick from 48 yards.
