Duke, Indiana in Preseason NIT Semis

NEW YORK (Reuter) -- Fifth-ranked Duke and No. 17 Indiana head to Madison Square Garden Wednesday for the semifinals of the Pre-season National Invitation Tournament.

Duke (2-0) used a pair of 29-point victories to advance to its 6 p.m. EST semifinal showdown with 22nd-ranked Tulsa (2-0). The Hoosiers (3-0) face Evansville (3-0), which is making its first appearance at Madison Square Garden.

Roshown McLeod scored 26 points and Steve Wojciechowski had 11 of his 12 in the first half as Duke routed Vanderbilt, 86-57, Friday and improved to 9-1 in the Pre-season NIT. The Blue Devils reached the NCAA Championship Game in each of their two previous appearances in the Pre-season NIT (1985, 1990).

Eric Coley and Shea Seals each scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as Tulsa took advantage of cold shooting to dump Oklahoma State, 72-54. Michael Ruffin added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Golden Hurricane, who are meeting Duke for the first time.

Freshmen A.J. Guyton and Jason Collier scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, as Indiana relied on its tenacious defense to break the game open in the second half en route to a 70-54 win over Saint Louis on Friday. The Hoosiers have won six straight Pre-season NIT games, including the 1992 crown.

Marcus Wilson scored nine points and Chris Quinn added 10 rebounds as Evansville advanced Friday with a 44-41 triumph over Iona. The Purple Aces have dropped all three career meetings with Indiana.
