Madison Square Garden Sells Miss Universe To Trump

NEW YORK (Reuter) - Madison Square Garden LP said Wednesday that it sold the company that runs the Miss Universe beauty contest to New York real estate developer and investor Donald Trump.

The sale of the Miss Universe Co. also includes Miss Teen USA and Miss USA beauty contests, Madison Square Garden said in a statement. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The garden is a partnership of ITT Corp. and Cablevision Systems Corp.

Madison Square Garden, which owns the New York City arena and the New York Knicks basketball team and New York Rangers hockey team, said the pageants no longer fit into its strategic plans.
