The major MVS components of PORTAL 2000 are:

SURVEY 2000 - for impact analysis and cross-referencing of your legacy applications. SURVEY 2000 tells you how dates are used within your COBOL, BAL and PL/1 programs and identifies other application components such as load modules, JCL, datasets, etc.. impacted by a change.

TRANSLATE 2000 - for automated code renovation and file manipulation. Using rules selected by the programmer, TRANSLATE 2000 converts COBOL code and supports three conversion techniques:

• Physical Conversion where date fields are expanded within programs, code is renovated and files are converted.
• Century Window where century window rules are used to generate date-processing code which employs a provided, standardized date routine.
• Virtual Conversion where program date fields are expanded, code is renovated and file expansion is simulated through interface routines.

SIMULATE 2000 - for custom date simulation and a dynamic execution audit. SIMULATE 2000 allows programs to be tested using any future or past date and can be activated in more than 100 different ways including job name, job type, job class, step name, program name, CICS terminal id, etc... The dynamic execution audit automatically identifies programs retrieving dates from the operating system and places information into your choice of application-specific audit files, SMF or joblogs. A flexible text scanning facility is also included with SIMULATE 2000.

PORTAL 2000 Project Management Facility - centralizes project and cost monitoring for all PORTAL 2000 products through a MS-Windows based GUI.
