What is NA2000 SCAN and NAIMPACT

NA2000 SCAN and NAIMPACT, are products of ten-year old veteran New Art Communications. Both are a set of smart, easy to install and use utilities, that can save you thousands of expensive hours of programmer time.

Where NA2000 SCAN is a batch analytical workhorse that pinpoints date-related problems specifically for the Year 2000 problem, NAIMPACT is a Windows GUI-based interactive and iterative analytical tool that pinpoints and assesses modification requirements for any end-user requirement -- including Year 2000.

NA2000 SCAN Features

  • It can process over 500 client/server size programs in under 30 minutes (on a Pentium under Windows 95)
  • Over 450 specific "intelligent" selection criteria find date-related variables and logic but exclude erroneous "hits"
  • Optional user input file permits you to enter up to 50 data names specific to your particular company or industry
  • Optional user "exclude" file permits you to enter up to 50 data names that you wish to exclude from the scan
  • NAXREF is an included cross reference facility that lets you see exactly where each variable or routine name is used
  • It can process any language as long as the file is in an ASCII format
  • An included file locator finds files on drives you specify - even your network drive
  • It processes file extensions you specify (e.g. .cbl, .cob, .cpy, .for, .bas, C, etc.)
  • Scan processing report details specific program and line number of date related "hits"
  • Alternate "short report" limits the number of "redundant hits"
  • Automatic creation of comma-delimited (.csv) files for import into Microsoft Excel or Lotus 1-2-3 for alternative viewing and/or reporting
  • Management report details number of lines of code requiring modifications

NAIMPACT Features

  • Completely interactive. Developers can iteratively assess the impact of making changes to one or multiple programs at a time
  • Programming language independent. Can assess the impact of change to any programming language including Cobol, Fortran, Assembler, C, etc.
  • Default search criteria file contains over 200 Year 2000 date related criteria. Developers can choose to use or not use this file
  • Developers can enter up to 250 of their own search criteria
  • Boolean search criteria (consisting of AND, OR, NOT) can be utilized (e.g. STAT AND WORKING OR ACCOUNTS)
  • Constrained and non-constrained searches (constrained search means that there must be a 100% match between the search criteria and the code; unconstrained search means that there doesn't have to be a perfect match
  • Fuzzy search capabilities - ability to match at 75%, 50% and 25% levels between search criteria and code
  • Impact analysis report details number of hours/man years required to perform this job and total estimated cost of job. Developer has ability to modify default criteria and iteratively run the impact analysis.
  • Scan processing report details specific program and line number of related "hits"
  • File viewer permits developer to click on "hit" and see associated program code
  • Cross Reference report provides alpha listing by "hit" in a spreadsheet-type format
