Editor's Notes 7/8/97:
We struggle to keep up with the mail. This is NOT, shall we say, a professional effort, so we appreciate your forebearance as various links go stale and messages go unanswered -- but not ignored.
The Year 2000 Information Center mailing list has gone private. While it has 3000 subscribers and is growing, you can no longer reach the public by posting meeting notices there. But this page will remain publicly available at the Year 2000 Information Center, and you may use it for communicating with the world.
Send updates, schedules, corrections and anything else you think we should publish to [email protected]
Listing Policies: Most Usergroups are legitimate user-based expressions. Policies with respect to vendor participation vary. Some groups may be dominated by vendors or, perish the thought, formed by vendors with particular commercial interests. Although we will not list obvious vendor interest groups, we do not investigate seriously. We will provide as much information as we have, including information about subscription costs where they are known to exist. We believe that more information is the best tool in the marketplace of ideas.
Mission: The Arizona Millennium Group provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences for those individuals responsible for implementing solutions to the Year 2000 Century Date Change issues within their respective organizations.

Mission and Membership Policies: The Boston Millennium
Association was formed in an effort to help businesses better
understand the year 2000 problem and the implications surrounding
the problem. We gather to extend our understanding of
business/technical subjects, government regulations and to
provide sources of information on the availability and efficiency
of solution tools and services. BMA needs involvement from all
its members in order to provide the educational and networking
resources our members need. We invite you to work with us to
spread the word about the year 2000 problem.
The Boston Millennium Association understands the critical role
that solution providers play in meeting the year 2000 challenge.
We also understand that many project managers may be reluctant to
discuss details of their problem in public for fear that they may
be overwhelmed with possible solutions. With that in mind, at
this time we see fit to limit attendance to BMA meetings to
users. We recommend that vendors contact the Information
Technology Association of America (ITAA) at (703) 284-5312 or
Heidi Hooper at [email protected] and ask to be included in
their quarterly directory.

Canberra, Australia: PUBLIC SERVICE Y2K SELF-HELP GROUP
Why form a self-help group?
Every organisation, including public sector
agencies, must prepare for the Y2K challenge. While many agencies
have conducted major upgrades, redevelopments and rollouts, few
(if any) have been involved in projects of this complexity, scope
and magnitude with limited resources in a fixed timeframe. This
combination of factors leads to duplication of effort in all
agencies;
loss of valuable, limited time during the research and
development of appropriate processes and standards.
Goals:
a) To provide a highly interactive, relaxed and non-threatening forum that encourages communication between, and provides support to, staff working on Y2K projects.
b) To minimise the effort required by individual agencies through the:
* exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge relating to the management of Y2K projects; and the
* sharing of common approaches and solutions for Y2K date conversion efforts.
c) To raise awareness of Y2K issues and the scope of the potential
problem.
Who can join the self-help group?
The membership is open to all members of public sector agencies. Membership is not limited to technical staff, reflecting the business scope of the Y2K project. It is envisaged that members will be attracted from agency business areas where there is the potential for Y2K impact. Private sector representatives may be invited to attend meetings as a guest speaker where there is sufficient interest and relevance to the group's membership.
Meeting Venue: The meeting place is at Times Square, 16-18 Mort Street Civic.
Meeting Frequency: The inaugural meeting of the self-help group is scheduled for Monday 23 June 1997 between 4.30 - 6.00pm. The group meets once a month, on the second Monday of the month. The meeting time is 4.30 - 6.00pm.
Meeting Format: Typical meetings consist of round table discussions on conversion topics lead by a featured speaker. The featured speakers consist of either i) user group members or ii) invited representatives, presenting their perspective of advertised Y2K issues.
4.30-4.45: Introductions
4.45-5.45: Topic 1 - presentation and Q&A
5.45-6.00: Open forum and setting next meeting's topic
All participants are encouraged to contribute to the discussion. The success of the group is dependent on members being willing to contribute and share information.
Self-help Group Facilitator: For further information on the group or if you have suggestions on what the group could discuss, please contact:

CHARTER OF THE WASHINGTON D.C. YEAR 2000 GROUP
The Washington D.C. region represents a unique (and critical) confluence of major government, military, educational, financial, technical, policy, and business organizations. All these enterprises have the potential to be heavily impacted by the Year 2000 issue; in many cases, that impact could ripple out through the rest of the country and even through the world.
The purpose of the WDCY2K Group is to bring together the leaders and decision makers from those groups who have Year 2000 responsibility or who are in a position to influence public and private policy on Y2K, so that we can share insights, problems and solutions. It is not a trade show, conference, or vendor exhibition, nor is it a commercial organization. It is being sponsored by the Fannie Mae Corporation as a service to industry and government in the Washington D.C. region.
For information about the Washington D.C. Year 2000 Group, please contact Bruce Webster at 202/752-3979 or [email protected] or see our newly-formed web site at http://www.bfwa.com/bwebster/y2k.
